Description
The Tormek Stone Preparer SP-650 allows you to change the grit size of the original Tormek whetstone. The other side of the Stone Preparer is used to maintain the whetstone. It applies new abrasive grains to the surface, ensuring effective sharpening.
The Tormek Original Whetstone is designed so that its properties can be changed using the Stone Preparer, i.e., from quick grinding to fine grinding. This has obvious advantages. Once you have created the desired shape on your tool, e.g., a chisel, you can also fine-grind the edge using the same whetstone, the same grinding machine, and the same jigs and settings. You don't have to change the equipment, and you're guaranteed to achieve exactly the same edge angle.
Switch to fine-tuning
If you want to set the stone for fine grinding, simply press the fine side of the stone preparer against the surface of the stone for approximately 30 seconds. This changes the surface function of the Tormek Original Whetstone (220 grit), making it work like a 1000 grit stone.
Activating the grindstone
If you want to go back to the original 220 grit, simply press the rough side onto the stone for a few seconds until you notice the surface of the stone changing.
To keep the stone in top condition, use the rough side of the stone preparer as needed. Press firmly for approximately 30 seconds. This process can be repeated as often as needed without premature wear of the whetstone.
