Mikes Toolshop GmbH endeavours to make its website accessible in accordance with the requirements of the Federal Act on Barrier-Free Access to Products and Services (Accessibility Act – BFSG, Federal Law Gazette I No. 44/2023) and Directive (EU) 2019/882 on accessibility requirements for products and services.
Our goal is to provide unrestricted access to our online store and its content to as many people as possible. As an owner-managed company with a small team, we continuously work to identify and eliminate digital barriers.
We don't see ourselves as an obstacle, but rather as part of the solution for an inclusive digital society. If you notice any barriers or would like to provide us with professional support, we look forward to your feedback. We view suggestions not as criticism, but as an opportunity to improve.
Conformity status
This website is currently partially compliant with the requirements of ÖNORM EN 301 549 V3.2.1, which is considered the authoritative standard for digital accessibility.
The implementation of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 – conformance level AA is in progress. Currently, some requirements are not yet fully met. We are continuously training, attending webinars, and intensively addressing the complex requirements of digital accessibility – to the best of our professional background.
Our goal is to better understand the topic and to implement it meaningfully within the scope of our possibilities.
Non-accessible content
Currently, the following barriers exist on the website:
- Individual images (e.g. product photos) do not contain complete alternative texts.
- Keyboard functionality is restricted in certain areas (e.g. filter elements, pop-ups).
- External embedded media (e.g. YouTube videos, social media content) are not consistently provided with subtitles or audio descriptions.
- Some color contrasts do not meet the minimum recommended values for people with visual impairments.
- PDF documents, data sheets or technical attachments from manufacturers are sometimes not prepared in an accessible manner.
Accessibility tool in use
To support digital accessibility, we use an external accessibility tool from SEA Accessibility on our website. This add-on module offers the following features, among others:
- Contrast enhancement and color inversion
- Font size adjustment
- Hiding images
- Reading focus and highlighting aids
- Navigation aids and pause functions for animations
The tool is accessible at any time via the "Accessibility" icon in the bottom left corner of the screen. It serves as additional assistance for customizing the website and is intended especially for people with visual, reading, or concentration impairments.
Please note that this tool does not fully cover all legal requirements for digital accessibility. However, it represents a concrete measure to improve the usability of our content.
Measures to improve accessibility
We are continually working to further improve the accessibility of our website. This includes, in particular, the following steps:
- Addition of alternative texts to new and existing product images.
- Optimization of keyboard operation in navigation and interaction elements.
- Expanding our editorial standards to ensure accessible text design.
- Training our team on the requirements of WCAG 2.1.
- Technical implementation of adjustments in collaboration with our web developers.
We aim to fully comply with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at conformance level AA.

Concluding remarks
We take accessibility seriously and see it as part of our responsibility to all our customers. While we, as a small company, cannot fully meet all requirements immediately, we are constantly working to make our website more accessible for everyone.
This isn't about shirking our responsibility—on the contrary: we want to do our part. We're aware that the technical and regulatory requirements for digital accessibility are very extensive and sometimes difficult to understand, especially alongside the demanding daily business of a business, a family man, and people. Some requirements seem almost restrictive at first—precisely because we often can't immediately understand them from the perspective of those not affected.
We therefore consciously extend our hand to anyone who would like to support us professionally or practically on this topic. I, Michael Keller, grew up with people with disabilities myself and see them as a natural part of our everyday social and professional lives. However, as sighted, hearing, or disabled people, we often lack the perspective of those who live with disabilities—and that's precisely why we are open to feedback, suggestions, and honest conversations.
Your feedback helps us better understand where barriers arise – and how to remove them.
