TORMEK Black Stone Whetstone - SB-250

The Tormek Blackstone Silicon is designed to shape and sharpen very hard and other high-alloy steels*. It can also sharpen carbide if the tool already has the correct shape. The SB-250 does not sharpen standard carbon steel any faster than the original Tormek whetstone.

The combination of the hardness of the abrasive grains, their shape, and their size allows the stone to work effectively at the low speeds of the Tormek machine. The higher grinding ability of the whetstone is particularly suitable for sharpening tools with large grinding surfaces and where grinding pressure is low, such as machine planer knives and turning chisels.

The 220 grit size is the same as the original Tormek whetstone and can be modified with the SP-650 Stone Preparer to give the stone a surface equivalent to 1000 grit. Thanks to the sharp and relatively small abrasive grains, the Blackstone Silicon sharpens effectively even at low grinding pressure. The Blackstone Silicon also has a very long service life.

Fits Tormek T-8, Tormek T-7 and earlier Tormek models with 250 mm stone diameter.
