FAQ Diamond Technology

  1. How do you recognize a good diamond cutting disc?
Unfortunately, it's not the price! Appearance and price often mean nothing at all. Good diamond blades are recommended by knowledgeable salespeople.
However, a few parameters can be identified: the height of the diamond segments (they can be as low as 8-12mm), laser-welded segments (higher load capacity), and whether they come from a reputable manufacturer (they have a name to lose).
  2. Why are there so many different types, such as for concrete, for screed, for tiles, etc.?
Let's compare it a bit to racing. There, too, there are different tire compounds for different weather conditions or road surfaces. The difference, simply put, lies in which bond holds the diamond.

    Two examples:
    - Discs for concrete have a soft bond. This allows the industrial diamonds to work properly, and the bond constantly releases new diamond chips.
    - Discs for screed have a hard bond. This prevents the bond from prematurely closing due to abrasive dust, which would cause the diamonds to simply fall out and do no good.

If you use a diamond tool designed for screed on concrete, one thing will happen: the blade "glazes" (= the diamond bond breaks and overheats) and no longer releases any diamond chips. It can go in the trash.
Conversely, the disc wears out very quickly and all the money ends up as dust on the floor.

  3. What speed do I set on the device?
Ideally, always run at full speed! - Large angle grinders generally cannot be regulated. Please operate smaller tools at maximum speed.
The high cutting speed of 80 meters per second also cools the cutting disc!

  4. Which one? Flex grinder or angle grinder?
Flex® is the colloquial term – however, it is trademarked, and the FLEX company still exists. In specialist shops and among other manufacturers, the term "angle grinder" has become established, or for smaller devices, "one-hand angle grinder." They mean the same thing.

  5. I have a cordless angle grinder. Which cutting blade do I need?
Cordless angle grinders generally have a reduced speed. This means that if you use regular diamond cutting discs, the disc may not be cooled properly or may not progress due to a lack of cutting speed.

There are separate diamond tools for cordless tools, which we will add to our range as soon as there is demand for them.

We recommend for:

Tiles & Porcelain Stoneware - Ceramics

Universal use in construction (concrete, bricks, and whatever comes in)

Concrete, hard concrete - reinforced concrete
